Background Information
Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat have dramatically transformed communication, introducing significant changes to the English language across vocabulary, grammar, and cultural norms. These platforms facilitate instant and global interactions, which have fostered the creation of new words and phrases like “selfie” and “unfriend,” and popularized informal communication styles that contrast with traditional English syntax.
Reflection
I have the following two reflections for this website build. First, in website interaction design, we need to consider the language use habits of users. For example, when designing a user interface, it is possible to use clear and simple language expressions. However, while simplifying sentence structure and informal syntax will make it easier to attract users’ attention to website content, oversimplification may lead to inaccurate communication of information. Therefore, when constructing website content, we need to strike a balance between simplicity and accuracy to ensure that information is conveyed accurately and is easy to understand. This makes it easier for users to understand the site’s functionality and content and increases their engagement. Secondly, we should focus on accuracy and standardization of language when building a website. Although the influence of social media has made simplified sentence structure and informal grammar more common, grammatical rules should still be followed and information should be expressed accurately in website content. This will help us build a professional website image and enhance user trust.
